Breeks Reunion December 2007

UPDATE at http://joychase.blogspot.com/2007/12/breeks-reunion-update.html

Dear Friends and Fellow Breeksites:

From Long Ago, fifty years to be exact…

Did we ever think we'd get here? Remember when we made plans for life after school? Little did we know then the changes that we would experience in ourselves and the world. Fifty years is no small length of time.

For some years now, several of us have been thinking of a 50th Reunion. First we thought: where will we have it? Manohar Devadatta, who is now on the Board of Hebron Schools, suggested: "Why not Ooty?" Ooty is the crux of it, the embryonic stage of our lives. We talked when I visited India in 2003. Since then I have met with or reconnected with many from the class of 1957—in no order and with maiden names inserted they are—Muriel Webb Brinicombe (UK), Wendy Munro Addo (Canada), Florence Gould Fountain (NZ), Brian Pimm-Smith (UK), Chilly Willy (NZ), David Pospisal (USA), Eunice Anderson Kolb (USA), Fay Rahman Vohra (INDIA), Glenyss MacDonald Fulop (AUS), June Pritchard Hunningford (UK), Manohar Devaddata (INDIA) mentioned above, and Toivo Yjrola (FINLAND) rediscovered by Fay's friend last week! Darlene Tiessen (via Terry in CANADA), Elspeth Thompson Vernon (UK) no contact, Draper (none), Chris Holcolme (none), Robin Stanford (none), others I have not found. I know there are more. Please add contact info and names for the illustrious class of 1957.

Many of you have said you may come to the reunion. I know that Brian, Wendy, Manohar, Fay, Darlene and I have made arrangements to come. We'll be missing the rest of you unless you hurry and buy your tickets now. If you cannot come, please send us a message of greeting to read to the group.

Because we were sparse to begin with (17 in all) and few can actually come to Ooty, we have opened the Reunion up to all Breeks past pupils and also to Hebronites who wish to join in. The Reunion will be December 27-30, 2007. The first meeting will be in Selbourne where Alastair Reid, the current principal of Hebron will lead the kick-off at 9 AM. None of us is "in charge" so please help with whatever you can . It is difficult to arrange things from thousands of miles away. And, when we are there let's not forget to get some pictures and share them on the web. I have loaded some of my old photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/joychase/sets/72157602391209968/

Who else is coming from other classes? Margo Chase Heyburn, Terry, Sharon and Carol Tiessen, Doralle and her brother Jeff Vines, Howard Bath, Gwen, others—please send me your names to add to the list. We welcome all. List family who may come, too.

Thank you to Fay and Manohar for getting together and creating a tentative schedule.
