New Year, 2005

I wish you all a good year in 2005, one which provides those things you wish for. I hope you make good resolutions and goals to further your studies while taking care of your many responsibilities. And, I wish you much happiness, too.

My concern and condolences go out to those of you who are from those countries effected by the terrible tsunami in South Asia. Many areas in my country of origin, India, have been devastated. Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia, Somalia, Sumatra and other areas have similar destruction. Our sympathies go out to all. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Cresent Societies is doing a massive job and is to be commended. If their website is a bit slow because of the number of hits, Amazon has made it easy to donate with a 1-Click link. This will also take you to a page showing the total collected to date and the number of payments, over 2 million as of today. Another organization, among many, that is helping in South Asia is World Vision International. There is a good news article in Yahoo! with links. I hope that 2005 sees a coming together of the world to aid and rebuild instead of wars.

See you all at the Evergreen Valley College Library next semester!
