"They also serve...

...who only stand and wait." (John Milton). It seems I've been waiting a lifetime but yet I've been living full on all this time. I studied John Milton for three years, reading Paradise Lost annotated, line by line. He had several daughters and it is said that he would not allow them to study Latin or Greek but made them read it to him for hours on end. Although prolific, Milton was not a cheerful sort. He wrote Paradise Regained because he felt he had inadvertently made Lucifer the hero in Paradise Lost.

Well, enough of British literature. Here we are in 2007, 340 years after Paradise Lost was published.

Bill and I celebrated out tenth wedding anniversary by taking a trip to Los Angeles. More about that in my next post. It was great fun, we walked everywhere, the weather was great and Los Angeles--awsome!

We started the New Year in a mellow way with a few friends at an Indian buffet. After midnight: Joy with Elena, John and Bill. Ken and Mary (not pictured). See Flikr soon.

I attended the American Library Association Mid-Winter Conference in Seattle, and spent some time with Natala and Cuba, too. ALA was terrific, no pressure--I shopped, saw Menopause; the Musical and Bodies: The Exhibition, went to workshops and viewed exhibits and played the tourist (catching fish at Pike's Place). I also enjoyed spending time with friends (Ganga Dakshinamurti, past president of APALA) and family--Natala and Cuba en pouf!

Catching up with family this month--Sheila in Santa Barbara with Sandbox Studio; Natala to London. Jessica to Vietnam. Meta, David with Caleb and Anna are now in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Happy Birthday to grandkids: Ryan, Alexa and Raika!

'Till next month, adieu!
